MAX-Tension Median End Terminal

THE MASH TL-3 MEDIAN GATING END TERMINAL

The MASH tested MAX-Tension™ Median Terminal, with Sabertooth™ Technology, features the next level of impact performance. The system utilizes a tension-based design along with an energy absorbing coupler that features a cutting tooth design. When impacted head-on, deceleration is controlled by friction developed in the tension cables and by cutting the downstream guardrail panels. When a side impact occurs, tension cables can help safely redirect a motorist away from the hazard.

The MAX-Tension Median Terminal also utilizes standard guardrail components for significant savings in inventory and maintenance costs. In addition, a majority of smart-parts are interchangeable within the MAX-Tension family of end terminals to lower inventory costs even further.

A mobile friendly installer's guide is also available. The Lindsay Guide App provides resources for teams installing or inspecting Lindsay Transportation products. The X-Tension Guardrail End Treatment has been specifically engineered for easy installation and maintenance cost savings.
Superior redirective, non-gating performance means clear zone grading begins at post #1 rather than post #3 on conventional gating terminals.

This guardrail end treatment system design consists of a high percentage of common guardrail components and a lightweight impact head.
These features combined with interchangeability between parallel and flared guardrail end treatment systems helps keep inventory costs low, results in less installation hours, less grading hours and repair cost savings. The X-Tension Guardrail End Treatment is available with either wood or steel posts. FDOT approved for both 27" or 31” height options.

MSKT Parallel Guardrail End Terminal

REDIRECTIVE, GATING MASH TL-3 END TERMINAL

The MSKT is 50′-0″ long and has 8 posts spaced at 6′-3″ centers. During head-on impacts, the MSKT head slides over the W-beam guardrail. The rail is sequentially kinked as it moves through the impact head. The kinked guardrail exits the head and the vehicle is brought to a controlled stop.

This is the same technology that has proven to be very effective with excellent field performance seen in the NCHRP 350 SKT. When impacted along the side within the length-of-need, the MSKT functions like guardrail. The errant vehicle is contained and redirected.

Building on the success of both the MSKT and the NCHRP 350 FLEAT, RSI is proud to announce their new MASH 2016 Test Level 3-compliant flared terminal: the MFLEAT.

The MFLEAT features the same field-proven technology as the FLEAT system, along with the same ease of installation our FLEAT customers have enjoyed for years.

In addition, some MFLEAT parts are interchangeable with RSI’s MSKT tangent MASH terminal.

FLEAT Flared Guardrail End Terminal

REDIRECTIVE, GATING NCHRP 350 TL-3 END TERMINAL

The FLEAT (FLared Energy Absorbing Terminal) is an energy-absorbing flared terminal. The flare is straight and the offset is variable anywhere between 2′-6″ and 4′-0″. The FLEAT is 37′-6″ long and has 7 posts. NCHRP 350 APPROVED! The FLEAT combines the superior performance of the energy absorbing tangent terminals with the advantage of flared terminals in reducing nuisance impacts. During head-on impacts, the FLEAT head slides over the W-beam guardrail. The rail is sequentially kinked or bent as it moves through the head. The kinked guardrail exits the head safely and the vehicle is brought to a controlled stop. When impacted along the side within the length-of-need, the FLEAT functions like guardrail. The errant vehicle is safely redirected back toward its original travel path. The FHWA has recommended that all non-energy-absorbing flared terminals have 200 feet or more of barrier proper in advance of the fixed object to allow for the vehicle to travel behind and beyond the end of the terminal.
